The 37th Annual YWCA Tribute to Women awards—honoring 22 area women—takes place tonight as a virtual live stream event.
State Rep. Tram Nguyen serves as mistress of ceremonies, beginning at 6 p.m. on YWCA Northeastern Massachusetts’ Facebook page. Honorees come from various backgrounds and serve their communities on boards of directors, committees and advisory boards. Money raised from the evening benefits the 26 YWCA programs serving more than 15,000 women, children and families throughout Merrimack Valley, New Hampshire and the North Shore.
Executive Director Susan Staples said Tribute to Women serves as the organization’s major fundraising event and supports domestic violence programs, childcare, teens parenting, emergency shelters, transitional housing, enrichment, early learning, after school programs, summer camp and more. Staples added, “Tribute is all about keeping with our mission of empowering women and fostering peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.”
