Marquis Victor, founding executive director of Elevated Thought, is the newest addition to Northern Essex Community College’s Liberal Arts faculty.   Victor, an artist and educator, will be teaching Film Studies on the college’s Lawrence Campus, beginning Wednesday, January 22.

“Marquis is well known in Lawrence as someone who is using the arts to beautify the city and empower residents, especially youth,” said Amy Callahan, NECC’s interim dean of Liberal Arts.   “When I found out he was an educator, I knew I wanted him to teach at NECC.”

A required course for Communications/Journalism majors at Northern Essex, Film Studies is also open to members of the community.   The course will introduce students to the formal and cultural issues important to understanding movies, using a range of films.   Students will learn about the history of film and basic tools such as film analysis, film theory, and film criticism.
